I will be in Hyderabad for the Durga puja. This is my first time in India. Can someone tell me more about Durga puja and how it will be celebrated in Hyderabad?

Hyderabad has two main Bengali-style Durga puja celebrations.
1. Bengali sanity – This is beside the Ramkrishna mission compound in the Indira park area near the lower tank bund.
2. Keyes high school – this is in Secunderabad.

The celebrations will be for 5 days – Shashi (on Saturday) to Dashami (Wednesday).
There are various temporary stalls selling food items, Bengali books, and Bengali textiles(katha stitch, etc) on the grounds.
There are cultural programs every evening where local kids participate and at least one or two of the evenings there will be a famous singer or dance troupe or theatre group from Kolkata.

Other than these two big ones, there are also a few smaller pujas in banjara hills, miyapur, Hitec city, etc.

It’s flogging a long-dead thread, Fred. But, if he has business there he must adjust. Did that in Hayword since I was too late for Berkeley’s and it was pretty good. Must admit, my sis in law frequently goes to Kolkata for the event from Hyderabad.
